Escanaba Veteran, 61, Dies  In  Hospital

Harry M.  Compher,  61, member  of a widely known Escanaba  family, died at 2 this morning at the Veterans' hospital    in Iron Mountain.   Me had been ill suffering   from   asthma   and attendant  complications   the  past six months.
, Mr.  Compher who was    a retired mail clerk,   was    born in Uricksville,   Ohio,     January 27.1890 and he had lived here the past 45 years.
  He. was a graduate of Escanaba high school.   He entered the postal service as a clerk at the Escanaba post office December   14,   1908   and retired October 31, 1934.
He worshipped at the First Methodist church. He was a member of Delta Lodge, 195,
F. & A. M., Delta Chapter 118, R. A. M., Escanaba Commandery No. 47, Knights Temple, Francis M. Moore Consistory and Ahmedt Temple, Marquette.
He was a Past Commander of Cloverland Post 82, American Legion and was a member of the 40 and 8. During World War I he served with the rank of lieutenant in the Army Department
of Service, Infantry and Officers Exchange.
Surviving are one brother, Frank, of Detroit, and one sister,
Mrs. J. Alton Mallmann of Escanaba.
